This work was created during my recent residency, Rub & Roll, held at Cardiff MADE from January to March 2024. The residency allowed three artists to incorporate printmaking into their practices, offering a space to expand technical skills.

In my work, I used printmaking’s repetitive processes to refine my drawing, revisiting themes from past projects: the ‘red ball,’ the grid’s democratic and divisive structure, architectural elements, and words as visual symbols. These prints act as ‘samplers,’ capturing my exploration into printmaking, with torn masking tape and notes from my sketchbook adding layers of texture and immediacy.
Drawing and writing are central to my practice, spanning installations, small-scale works, and film. My work has been shown in regional venues, major London galleries, and international residencies. I studied Fine Art and Film in London and have taught at all levels for over 30 years.
As part of Rub & Roll, artist Sarah Garvey led us in producing a collective edition, titled The Associates Rub & Roll 26.04.24 Edition Box, featuring prints by Sarah Garvey, Kate Shooter, Eleanor Whiteman, and myself. Displayed at Cardiff MADE from April to June 2024, this edition unites our individual explorations in printmaking, symbolising both personal growth and collaborative effort
